EQUIPMENT INSTRUCTIONS

1. Inspect equipment to ensure that all hoses and tubes are clear of build-up and debris.

2. Install enclosed metal pick-up tube to the underside of lid.

3. Connect one end of the 1/2" material hose to the male fitting on the valve of the gun by sliding back on the outer sleeve of the female quick-connect fitting and pushing onto male fitting. Make sure that the sleeve is returned to fully closed position and all connections are tight. Connect the other end of the hose to the matching male fitting in the tank lid.

4. Connect the female end of the 1/4" air hose to the small male fitting on the gun, and the male end of the hose to the female fitting in the tank regulator.

5. Mix Smoktite material according to instructions supplied with the bucket.

6. Pour mixed Smoktite material into tank and secure lid by tightening the four plastic knobs until secure.

7. Pull out regulator knob on tank to unlock, and turn to full counterclockwise position. Make sure that the green valve handle on the gun is in the closed (down) position.

8. Approximately 6 cfm at 60 psi (or 5 cfm @ 90 psi) of compressed air is necessary for the Smoktite system to operate properly. A regulator on your compressor will be necessary to prevent exceeding recommended pressure. Too much pressure will create more overspray and a rougher finish on the surface.

9. All hoses must be attached and green valve handle must be closed before supplying compressed air to tank!

10. Connect air supply to tank and adjust tank pressure regulator to 25 psi.

11. Area to be sprayed must be clean of all debris and creosote.

12. It is helpful but not necessary to remove the damper plate. It is not necessary to remove the damper frame!

13. Protect the firebox and surrounding area with drop cloths or by other means.

>Now you are ready to enter the house:

14. Place your Smoktite equipment in a location where it will be comfortable for you to lie down and reach up through the damper with the spray gun.

15. The trigger on the gun only controls the air that propels the Smoktite material. The green valve controls the flow of the material. Always pull the trigger before opening the valve and close the valve before releasing the trigger. If the valve is open when the trigger is not depressed, material will squirt out of the gun like toothpaste.

16. Pull the trigger on the gun; then slowly open the valve. Material should start spraying.

17. Apply an even coat by starting the spray on one side then working your way around the smoke chamber. Spray can be concentrated on those areas with large holes and cracks (up to 1") to fill them before applying your finish coat. The preferred method is to apply a few lighter coats, as opposed to one heavy coat.

18. When spraying is complete, close the valve on the gun and let the material flow stop before releasing the trigger. Allow the Smoktite to partially cure before applying another coat. Spraying wet material over wet material will result in a rough finish and possible adhesion problems. A good rule of thumb is if the material comes off on your finger when touched, it is still too wet.

19. To increase the distance of the spray, and reach further areas, increase the air pressure at the compressor.

20. To increase the amount of material being sprayed, and spray a heavier coat, increase the pressure regulator on the tank.

Clean your equipment immediately after each use:

21. When finished spraying, turn tank regulator back to full counterclockwise position and release pressure in tank by pulling up on the brass pressure release fitting in the lid before disconnecting any hoses.

22. Empty any excess material out of the tank and rinse all equipment thoroughly with water.

23. Fill the tank with clean water and reconnect all hoses.

24. Bring the tank regulator back up to 25 psi and open the valve to allow water to flow through the hoses and gun until clear.

EXTENDER GUN MAINTENANCE: The Extender Gun is designed to give you long service as long as it is maintained properly.

25. When the equipment is clean and the tank is empty, disconnect the hoses and gun. Disassemble gun completely and spray pins with WD40 Oil to displace any water. This will minimize corrosion and allow reassembly in different configurations as needed.

26. All equipment can be stored inside the tank for easy handling.

27. Advise customers to allow a 24-hour cure time before lighting their first fires then an additional 24-hours of use with small fires only.
